Symptoms
SPS (Standby Power Supply) failures can potentially cause Write Cache to become disabled.
Array reports event codes such as the following:
71678001 ESP_ERROR_SPS_REMOVED
71678001 BBUA has been Removed
Cause
The event is for either the SPS (Stand-by Power Supply) or the BBUA (Battery Backup Unit Assembly), depending on the array type.
This event may also be reported as part of the SP boot sequence, which is not a fault if it is followed by events such as the following:
espkg 71670002 BBUA Inserted.
espkg 71670003 BBUA State Changed (TestStarted to TestCompleted).
espkg 71670003 BBUA State Changed (NotBatteryReady to BatteryReady).
espkg 71670003 BBUA State Changed (Testing to BatteryReady).
Resolution
SPcollects should be gathered and checked to see if the SPS or BBU is still faulted.
Determine if the SPS/BBU was intentionally removed or if there is some problem such as a loose cable or incorrectly inserted component.
Replace faulty BBU with the correct corresponding part number 078-000-092-07 or 078-000-132-00.
